Industrial Manufacturing & Components with CompuTec Solutions
CompuTec solutions support industrial manufacturers with multi-level production management, subcontracting, quality documentation, and production scheduling within SAP Business One.
- Multi-Level Production
- Scheduling & Subcontracting
- Quality & Traceability

Built for the Depth and Variety of Industrial Manufacturing
Industrial manufacturers face a distinctive set of challenges: products built from many levels of sub-assemblies and components, production processes that span internal operations and external subcontractors, and quality documentation requirements that vary by customer, sector, and market. CompuTec solutions give them the tools to manage these demands within SAP Business One, from material planning and production scheduling through to quality records and cost analysis.

The Business Value of CompuTec Solutions for Industrial Manufacturing
CompuTec solutions bring multi-level production, subcontracting, quality, and cost together inside SAP Business One, giving manufacturers a reliable view of what each order costs, where output is constrained, and what quality evidence exists.
Multi-Level Production Management
- Product Structure Visibility: What a product is made from is visible in one place, however many levels deep the structure goes.
- Reduced Risk Across Production Levels: Orders for every level of the build are raised together, keeping sub-assembly production aligned with the finished product.
- Connected Order Visibility: When a delay happens, planners can see immediately which other orders are affected and respond with complete information.
Production & Bottleneck Scheduling
- Plans That Reflect Capacity: Delivery dates are based on real capacity and on the sequence of operations each order requires.
- Focus on What Constrains Output: Planning attention can be concentrated on the resources that set the pace for everything else.
- Earlier Awareness of Delivery Risks: A date that cannot be met surfaces while there is still time to act on it.
Subcontracting & External Operations
- Visibility of All Production Steps: Work sent outside appears alongside work done in-house, giving one view of order progress wherever the steps take place.
- Accurate Costs Including External Processing: The cost of an order takes in external processing as well as internal operations.
- Tracked Materials for Subcontracted Work: Components free-issued to a subcontractor stay accounted for as external work in progress until the finished item is received.
Quality & Material Certification
- Documented Quality Evidence per Order: When a customer or auditor asks what was tested and what the result was, the answer is on file against the order.
- Formal Non-Conformance Records: A quality failure leaves a formal record covering the failure itself, the materials affected, and the action that followed.
- Certificates of Analysis on Demand: Certificates go out with the shipment instead of being put together by hand after the customer asks for them.
Production Cost Visibility
- Costs Rolled Up Across All Production Levels: The cost of a finished product includes every level beneath it, sub-assembly by sub-assembly.
- Subcontracting Costs Included: External processing is counted in the order cost, keeping the margin on paper the same as the margin in practice.
- Data to Support Make-or-Buy Decisions: Recorded cost history gives a documented basis for deciding whether to make a part or buy it.
Plant & Equipment Maintenance
- Reduced Disruption from Equipment Failures: Servicing happens on a schedule rather than after a breakdown, which keeps production running to plan.
- Maintenance Records for Customers and Auditors: There is a record of how equipment has been maintained, ready to show when it is needed.
- Maintenance Planned Around Production: Servicing can be timed to fit around production cycles.

Industry Challenges and How CompuTec Solutions Address Them
Industrial manufacturing involves multi-level production structures, external processing, and demanding quality and scheduling requirements. Here is how CompuTec solutions help manufacturers manage them.
Customer Stories
More than 500 businesses run their operations on CompuTec solutions, in industries including manufacturing, logistics, and distribution. They operate from Canada to Kenya, from France to Fiji, and from the United Kingdom to the United States. These are a few of them: what they needed, what they changed, and how their operations run now.
Interested in how CompuTec solutions could support your industrial manufacturing operation?
With CompuTec ProcessForce, manufacturers can commit to dates the plant can meet, quote from real costs, and answer a quality question straight from the record. CompuTec PDC adds what actually happened on the shop floor. Learn more about each, or request a demo to see them working together.

Built for Your Industry
Traceability, quality control and compliance work differently in food production than in aerospace. Our solutions are built for those specifics, industry by industry.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do CompuTec solutions add to SAP Business One for industrial manufacturers?
SAP Business One provides the financial, sales, purchasing, and inventory core. CompuTec ProcessForce extends it with the depth industrial manufacturing needs: multi-level Bills of Materials and routings, production scheduling, subcontracting, quality control, and multi-level costing. CompuTec PDC adds shop floor data capture. All of it runs inside the same SAP Business One database, so there is no separate system to keep in step.
How is a product with several levels of sub-assemblies managed?
CompuTec ProcessForce supports multi-level BOMs where sub-assemblies and components are nested within parent BOMs across multiple levels. Manufacturing Orders for all levels of a product structure can be generated from a single Sales Order. The Manufacturing Order relations map gives visibility of how all orders, sales documents, and Purchase Orders are connected.
Can subcontracted work be planned and costed with internal operations?
Yes. External subcontractors can be defined as subcontractor-type resources within CompuTec ProcessForce and included as operations within the routing. Subcontract assembly and free issue materials are managed within the Manufacturing Order structure, keeping all production steps, internal and external, visible and costed in one place.
How is production scheduled around a resource that limits output?
The Bottleneck Planning Board allows planners to designate specific resources as bottlenecks and manage operations on those resources through a dedicated planning view. Operations can be assigned based on quantity, priority, and time horizon, and progress through defined stages from available through to in production.
How are changes to a product specification managed?
BOM revisions can be assigned lifecycle statuses (Active, Engineering, Being Phased Out, or Obsolete), giving manufacturers a way to manage which specifications are available for production at any time. When a change needs to be applied across multiple products, it can be applied to them at once with Mass BOM Update, with changes saved as new revisions to preserve existing records.
Can we trace which materials went into a finished product?
Yes. Batch and serial number data can be recorded at every stage from raw material receipt through production to customer delivery. Forward and backward batch tracing is available at any point, giving a complete material history for any finished product or component.
What quality documentation can we give customers?
Quality Control Test Protocols can be configured per item and production stage, with results recorded digitally and linked to the relevant Manufacturing Order. Certificates of Analysis can be generated from Quality Control Test results and shared with customers. When a test fails, a Non-Conforming Materials Report (NCMR) formally documents the non-conformance and the corrective action required.
Is the true cost of a make-to-order job visible?
Yes. Costs are aggregated across all BOM levels from raw materials through sub-assemblies to finished goods. Subcontractor costs are included in the Manufacturing Order cost calculation. Each Manufacturing Order can carry both planned and actual cost data, supporting cost analysis and variance visibility per order.
What does CompuTec PDC record on the shop floor?
CompuTec PDC captures labor time, downtime, material movements, and production progress at the point of execution, recorded against the Manufacturing Order in SAP Business One. Planned versus actual analysis compares how a job ran against how it was estimated, and the Manufacturing Cockpit gives a live view of work in progress.
Can we tell whether a delivery date is achievable before promising it?
Yes. MRP II recommendations factor in current stock availability, open orders, and vendor lead times, giving procurement teams a more reliable basis for planning. The scheduling board identifies when a Manufacturing Order cannot be completed by its planned delivery date and suggests the earliest achievable date based on current resource availability.
