CompuTec WMS — Warehouse Management System

A warehouse management solution that connects every movement from goods receipt through to picking, packing and shipment.

  • GS1 Barcode Scanning
  • Manufacturing-Aware Warehousing
  • Real-Time SAP Business One Integration

Warehouse Management Built for SAP Business One

CompuTec WMS runs on GS1 barcode scanners, touchscreen terminals and desktop workstations, and takes weights straight from industrial scales. Every transaction writes to SAP Business One as it happens, with no separate database and no overnight synchronization. For businesses using CompuTec ProcessForce, warehouse and production stay in step automatically.

    • Lean Inventory Management: Live, accurate stock figures let you carry the right amount of inventory, not a safety buffer.
    • Catch Weight Accuracy: Industrial scales capture exact weights for precise cost accounting and billing.
    • Expiry and Waste Management: FEFO and shelf-life logic reduces write-offs from expired inventory.
  • Workforce Efficiency
    • No Duplicate Work: A document in use can be reserved to one person, and returns to the shared list automatically if it is left idle.
    • Paperless Operations: An intuitive mobile interface replaces paper-based processes on the floor.
    • Faster Onboarding: Guided, role-specific workflows reduce time needed to get new staff operational.
  • Delivery Accuracy
    • Reduced Returns: Barcode scanning during pick and pack confirms the right items reach every order before dispatch.
    • Customer-Specific Packing: Define packing standards by customer, warehouse, or item type.
    • Shelf-Life Agreements: Minimum remaining shelf-life requirements are respected automatically during picking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does CompuTec WMS require CompuTec ProcessForce?

No. CompuTec WMS works as a standalone warehouse management solution for SAP Business One. However, for businesses also using CompuTec ProcessForce, additional manufacturing-specific functionality becomes available, including Manufacturing Order-driven material transfers and direct integration with CompuTec PDC on the production floor. Note that some inventory queue behaviors, such as FEFO for batch-managed items, also follow CompuTec ProcessForce settings when it is installed.

Does CompuTec WMS use a separate database from SAP Business One?

No. CompuTec WMS is built natively for SAP Business One and uses the same database and business logic. Warehouse transactions update your ERP in real time with no synchronization delay, no duplicate data entry, and no risk of records falling out of step.

Which devices does CompuTec WMS support?

CompuTec WMS runs on GS1 barcode scanners, Android mobile devices, vehicle-mounted terminals for forklifts, and standard PC workstations. It also integrates directly with industrial weighing scales, allowing operators to capture precise weights at the point of transaction without manual entry.

Can CompuTec WMS handle variable-weight products?

Yes. Catch weight management is supported, with direct integration to industrial weighing scales. Operators capture the actual weight of each unit during receipt or picking, ensuring that inventory records, production costs, and customer billing are based on the measured weight rather than a nominal value.

Does the warehouse need to use bin locations?

No. Bin locations are supported but not required. CompuTec WMS operates correctly in warehouses without bins defined. You can introduce bin-level tracking if and when it makes sense for your operation.

How does CompuTec WMS manage aggregation for complex pallet and storage structures?

Storage Unit handling supports multi-level nested hierarchies, tracking individual items within boxes, within crates, and on pallets. It also supports mixed loads containing different items, batches, or serial numbers. Storage units support SSCC numbering in line with GS1 standards, and an entire complex pallet can be moved, scanned, or counted as a single unit, reducing the number of individual scans required.

Can two people work on the same document, and what happens if someone is interrupted?

This is controlled by the Semaphore setting, which is optional. With it switched on, opening a document reserves it to that user and removes it from the list other users see, so the same transaction cannot be worked twice. If it is left inactive beyond a defined reservation time, it returns to the shared list automatically, so nothing stays stranded when somebody is interrupted. It can be enabled for Inventory Transfer Requests and for Storage Unit Pick and Pack from Sales Orders or Inventory Transfer Requests.

Can stock counts be performed without stopping warehouse operations?

Yes. CompuTec WMS supports cycle counting directly from the warehouse floor using mobile devices and barcode scanners, allowing specific areas to be counted while the rest of the warehouse continues operating.

Can the system track both batch and serial number managed inventory?

Yes. CompuTec WMS supports batch-managed items, serial number-managed items, and nested serialization, where serial numbers are organized within specific batches. This level of traceability is particularly relevant for regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals.

Can CompuTec WMS be configured to fit our specific warehouse processes?

Yes. Workflows, screen layouts, and data fields can be configured for each warehouse location, team, or user role. User-Defined Fields and SQL query fields allow specialized data to be captured and validated, and additional functionality can be built using CompuTec AppEngine to address requirements beyond the standard feature set.
