A sales CRM built on the system they already had
Steliau Technology distributes electronic components and embedded technology across Europe: connectivity, IoT, embedded systems, displays and power solutions, with design and development, prototyping and system integration alongside. It describes itself as a young company with an old history. Around twenty acquisitions in eight years brought long-established businesses into a single group, with revenue of €800 million and some 2,000 employees. Steliau France employs around 80 people and serves more than 900 customers placing over 10,000 orders a year.

The catalyst for change
Growing by acquisition meant a different ERP system in each country, so in 2024 the group chose SAP Business One as its single system. With that settled, sales wanted an intuitive CRM for the pipeline. In the meantime opportunities lived in spreadsheets, separate from the customer, product and pricing records in SAP Business One.
That separation mattered more here than in most businesses. A single project can run well beyond eighteen months, from prototype through pre-series to mass production. The part numbers involved are long and easily confused, each with its own agreed price. Those details have to be right every time.
Why the SAP Business One Web Client and CompuTec WebUp
Building the CRM inside SAP Business One rather than beside it shaped everything else. The Web Client already reads the same records, so there is no connector to maintain and no second copy to reconcile. It also puts Microsoft Outlook, the CRM and SAP Business One in one working experience, which matters when sales runs its day out of email.
Matching Steliau's own sales process called for customization, and that is where CompuTec WebUp came in: renaming fields, adding the ones Steliau needed and applying their own logic, so the screens follow how Steliau sells. Samba Kane, their SAP Business One manager, made those changes himself, and users picked them up in the browser with nothing to install.
I implemented it myself, and it was very easy. To be honest, very, very easy. It is one of the few extensions I have worked with that was this easy to implement and use.

The results
CompuTec WebUp's ease of use and flexibility allowed us to quickly realize our SAP Business One Web Client blueprint. Web Client user adoption was easy from day one.
Managing opportunities, projects, part numbers and pricing is simpler now, with less room for error. A project that runs for eighteen months or more lives as one record, with its parts, customer and agreed prices attached, so whoever picks it up can see the stage it has reached.
With the SAP Business One Web Client, we have everything in one system. We can easily create and follow projects, see where they stand and access the information we need in real time.
Steliau reports 100% user acceptance, which makes the next step straightforward. They plan to widen the approach to other departments and other locations.
Together with CompuTec, we transformed the SAP Business One Web Client into a simple CRM tailored to our sales processes. Its native integration gives our teams a clear, daily view of opportunities and performance. The result is strong user adoption and a scalable foundation for Steliau's future growth.
