Phasing Out the .NET Framework Editions of CompuTec ProcessForce and CompuTec AppEngine
We are focusing all future product development on the current, modern generation of CompuTec ProcessForce and CompuTec AppEngine — built on a redesigned architecture and modern .NET, with CompuTec AppEngine 3.0 as its foundation. Accordingly, the previous .NET Framework editions, CompuTec ProcessForce 2.0 (the 10.0 Release line) and CompuTec AppEngine 2.0, will be phased out on the schedule outlined below.
To be clear from the outset:
- CompuTec ProcessForce and CompuTec AppEngine are core products under active development. Both are central to our roadmap and our investment.
- SAP Business One 10.0 remains fully supported by CompuTec ProcessForce. This announcement does not change which SAP Business One 10.0 versions we support, and we are actively preparing CompuTec ProcessForce for the upcoming SAP Business One 11 — a release we expect to be an important step forward for the platform.
- What is being retired is the legacy .NET Framework foundation and versions of our software that are based on it. We are consolidating our development effort onto the modern .NET edition of ProcessForce, running on CompuTec AppEngine 3.0 — which also fully supports SAP Business One 10.0.
- CompuTec WMS is not affected by this announcement and remains fully supported. A dedicated update on CompuTec WMS will follow shortly, as we prepare to release a new edition built on modern .NET and begin phasing out the older .NET Framework version on its own schedule.
From the date of this announcement, the .NET Framework editions enter maintenance mode: we will deliver bug fixes only, as a consolidated release at the end of each calendar quarter. Quarterly maintenance releases will continue through 2026, and updates for these specific editions will conclude on 31 December 2026. From that date onward, new development, fixes, and enhancements will continue exclusively on the modern .NET edition of ProcessForce running on AppEngine 3.0.
We encourage customers and partners still on the .NET Framework editions to plan their transition to CompuTec ProcessForce on modern .NET running on CompuTec AppEngine 3.0 during 2026. Our team and partner network are ready to support that transition.
Why we are making this change
The .NET Framework runtime has entered long-term, no-new-features mode at Microsoft. To continue delivering the performance, security, and developer productivity our customers expect from a leading SAP Business One ecosystem, CompuTec is focusing its R&D on modern .NET — today running on .NET 8, with the move to .NET 10 already on our near-term roadmap.
Concentrating investment on a single, modern platform allows us to:
- Deliver new features faster and more consistently across the entire CompuTec product family,
- Align our roadmap with current SAP Business One architecture, including Web Client, SAPUI5 and the Service Layer,
- Maintain the high security and compliance standards required by our customers in 80 countries.
Lifecycle timeline (.NET Framework editions only)
| Phase | Date | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Maintenance mode begins | Effective immediately | Bug fixes only for ProcessForce 2.0 (.NET Framework) and AppEngine 2.0; consolidated quarterly release |
| Quarterly maintenance releases | End of each quarter through 2026 | Bug fixes only — no new features or enhancements for the .NET Framework editions |
| End of updates for the .NET Framework editions | 31 December 2026 | No further updates for ProcessForce 2.0 (.NET Framework) or AppEngine 2.0. ProcessForce on modern .NET and AppEngine 3.0 continue under full active development. |
Important: This timeline applies exclusively to the .NET Framework editions. CompuTec ProcessForce on modern .NET, CompuTec AppEngine 3.0, and the rest of the CompuTec product portfolio are not affected and continue to receive new features and full support.
The path forward: the same products, evolved
CompuTec AppEngine 3.0 is the new foundation of the CompuTec ecosystem — a single, standardized framework for building, deploying, and maintaining apps across SAP Business One. CompuTec ProcessForce on modern .NET runs natively on this platform.
For customers the transition is continuous: CompuTec ProcessForce remains your manufacturing solution. The change is in the runtime underneath, and in the platform capabilities available to your administrators and development teams.
Business outcomes
For organizations using CompuTec ProcessForce, transitioning to AppEngine 3.0 translates into:
- Higher performance and lower resource usage,
- Less manual administration through centralized management and automation,
- Faster issue resolution thanks to unified logging,
- Shorter development cycles for in-house and partner customizations,
- More consistent solutions across projects and entities,
- Easier scaling as the customer’s SAP Business One landscape grows.
Benefits for IT administrators
- Central logging across all apps — troubleshoot faster, with a single, unified view of activity instead of fragmented logs per application.
- Centralized apps delivery and updates — roll out new versions in a controlled way, with users always on the latest releases.
- Job scheduling and event-driven automation — replace manual routines and external schedulers with native, integrated background jobs.
- Single Sign-On (SSO) — users authenticate once and reach all CompuTec applications, improving both security posture and user experience.
Benefits for developers and partners
- Modern .NET development stack — running on .NET 8 today, with .NET 10 already on the near-term roadmap; a clean, fast, fully supported runtime in place of the legacy .NET Framework.
- Simplified SAP integration — SAP Business One DI API and Service Layer are abstracted away, removing boilerplate so teams focus on business logic.
- Custom OData/API controllers with built-in authentication — expose secure, standards-based APIs without building plumbing from scratch.
- Shared business logic between backend and API — user-defined objects are automatically available to both server-side code and API endpoints, ensuring consistency.
- First-class SAPUI5 support — develop SAP Fiori applications using TypeScript and built-in libraries aligned with modern web standards.
- Modular extensions with dependencies — reuse functionality across solutions and build genuinely modular products.
What you should do now
1. Identify all environments still running CompuTec ProcessForce 2.0 (.NET Framework) and AppEngine 2.0 or earlier versions.
2. Plan the transition to CompuTec ProcessForce on modern .NET running on CompuTec AppEngine 3.0, ideally during 2026. Because CompuTec AppEngine 3.0 introduces a new architecture, all CompuTec components in a given environment must be updated together.
3. Review the documentation for CompuTec AppEngine 3.0 to understand the new architecture and prerequisites: https://learn.computec.one/docs/appengine/
4. Contact your CompuTec partner — or our team directly — to schedule the transition and to discuss any custom extensions that need to be rebuilt against the new framework.
