The new Bottleneck Scheduling feature in CompuTec ProcessForce MOWizard provides a streamlined approach to tackling these constraints. Here’s how it works:

Scenario-Based Planning and Bottleneck Declaration

Scheduling begins with creating a scenario that defines your planning structure, incorporating demand, available capacities, and constraints.

Leveraging their understanding of the production process, users manually designate specific machines or workstations as bottlenecks within a given scenario. This flexibility allows you to tailor the scheduling logic to your unique environment.

CompuTec ProcessForce Manufacturing Order Wizard – Bottleneck Declaration

To maintain clarity and focus, the Manufacturing Order Wizard enforces a crucial rule: only one operation across the entire production tree of a product can be scheduled on a designated bottleneck resource. This forces you to pinpoint the most critical constraint for optimization.

Dedicated Bottleneck Planning Board

Once bottlenecks are declared, you gain access to a specialized Bottleneck Planning Board. This board provides a clear visual representation of unscheduled operations related to your bottleneck resources and a Gantt chart displaying assigned Manufacturing Order Recommendations on those resources.

The Bottleneck Planning Board allows for easy manipulation of operations through drag-and-drop functionality. You can move operations to bottleneck resources, within the same resource, or reassign them to other available resources.

When you add a Manufacturing Order to the Bottleneck Planning Board, all of the Manufacturing Order operations will be added to the main CompuTec ProcessForce Scheduling Gantt Chart automatically too.

Right-clicking or double-clicking an operation opens a Helper Window, providing options for batch sizing, manual scheduling adjustments (start/end dates), removal from the schedule, and merging batches.

Slotting Panel for Granular Control

For in-depth resource allocation, the Slotting Panel allows you to define the planning horizon, manage available capacities, and precisely assign jobs to bottleneck resources based on quantity and job requirements. You can also define quantity and slotting strategies and manage job anchoring.

A visual chart within the Slotting Panel header provides a real-time overview of task scheduling progress, showing quantities in various stages (Available, Slotted, Assigned, Dispatched, Production).
